Still Working On The T-Shirt Quilt
Nov. 6th, 2009 06:25 pmI wrote before about my T-shirt quilt, inspired by a Jeans Quilt made by Jacinta. All the machine sewing of the squares is done now, and my aunt has helpfully blocked it out onto the backing we're using which is actually a duvet cover made of T-shirt material itself. It looks impressive...
(Note: follow picture links for larger pictures)

There are 156 places where I have to hand-sew the quilt deck to the backing, plus a row of blanket stitch around the edge to fix the edge of the backing down ... it's about 3/4 done at the moment:

The best thing about working on a Really Big Quilt is you can use it to keep you warm while you work ...

(Although it occurs to me that by the height of summer this may end up being the worst thing about it)
I am loving this quilt very much!!! Can't believe it's been over a year in the making already and I am still both working on it and adoring it. Yay!

(one tiny problem: clicking on the photos just takes me to your main DW page, not to a larger version of the photos. there's something weird about the URLs.)

Do those still not work? Wondering if being logged in at NDL matters.

BTW, these are very good photos of you, and I am surprised your hair has gotten that long since I last saw you... Perhaps the webcam wasn't revealing your hair length that well. But it's definitely much longer than when I saw you in person - I like it.
Hair is usually tied up but the long bit is now sufficiently long that if I braid it the braid will stay behind my shoulder mostly, istead of just flip flopping around. Even I'm amazed!
